CFUW Victoria holds monthly General Meetings with speakers. These are generally* held on the third Sunday of the month at the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion, 1070 Tillicum Road. The public is welcome to attend the General Meetings to listen to the speakers.

In addition to the General Meetings, events include a Christmas lunch held in December, the S&B Society Annual Tea held in February and the Annual General Meeting in late May. In addition, there are events organized or supported by the Advocacy Committee. Refer to the calendar to the right for upcoming events. Click on the event to get more details.

*  When booking the Pavilion, the city gives priority to Esquimalt groups and those with more frequent usage of the facilities. As a result, we may not get our preferred date and time. This appears to be standard practice for city-owned facilities.

CFUW Victoria General Meeting

Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm

Guest Speaker: Backpack Buddies

BackPack Buddies was started in North Vancouver in 2012 by a mother-daughter duo, Joanne Griffiths and Emily-Anne King, who were confronted with the reality of childhood hunger in their own community. In particular, they learned about the “weekend hunger gap” for kids who normally rely on school-day meal programs.

Today, their team supports over 6,000 hungry children every week by collaborating with educators, administrators, social workers and other non-profits. They have expanded operations to communities in the Lower Mainland and on the Island.
